New supplements do not need to go through an FDA approval process. Meaning anyone can come up with a dietary supplement and sell it regardless of what is it.

Prior to 2012, a huge number of pre-workout supplements contained DMAA which is METHylhexanamine. They got banned after reports surrounding that it contained illegal substance (keep in mind that some companies actually went as far as to list it)

Also, companies can hide whatever they want under proprietary blend.

Considering that you know of the best genuine supplements whether it is vitamins, pre-workouts, post workouts, etc Most likely you do not need it. In fact, it is safe to say that after a decade of being a personal trainer and a nutritionist most of my clients were wasting their money on my multiple supplements that had 0 benefits to them. To be honest the number of people who actually needed it and were using it correctly was way less than the amount that was causing harm to themselves by using it

Supplements: You do not need supplements, most of them are made out of useless ingredients and the ones who are legit (does not mean your body needs) A lot of supplements cause more damage than health. There are no miracle drugs.
